The Dissonance of Old and New Media
With the constant inundation of new media the future of old media is unclear. Will old media cease to exist or will it continue to live beneath the shadows of thriving new media? My proposal is that old media will continue to exist despite its rapid decline. In my project I will clarify what constitutes old and new medias as well as why new media has become so popular while old forms of media have experience the opposite. Despite the factors that make new media preferable over the old, I will claim that old media will continue to exist. I will do so by evidencing that new media serves as a complement of the old, that new media lacks necessary standards and that some old media undergoes an ‘evolution‘ that makes it better.
I tend to agree with you, although new media advances everyday people will want to feel something in their hands. A touch of a book or a newspaper cannot be replaced by an iPad
ReplyDeleteHi Liz,
ReplyDeleteI like your topic, it is something that I wonder sometimes as well, especially when I read books online. I also think that old media will continue on, even though it may be used less often than new media. I think there will always be people who will prefer mailing out a letter rather than emailing, or reading a physical book rather than using more advanced technology. I am not sure what percentage of the population that will be but it is an interesting topic to research
